SEPTEMBER 2024

OVERVIEW
Welcome to the third monthly report - series of reflections surrounding AUGURY HOUSE’s growth and developments as a production house. We’ve been getting further into the post production for the Filial Brat and have been prepping for our next projects!
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
We’ve been chunking away at recording the voice overs for the film. For this, Carissa has taken the lead in recording, arranging, re-recording and layering which is a long process of experimentation and adjusting things until they’re just right! She also had to adjust some of the voice over script in order to get a better fit with the footage we see on screen.
On top of this, we have also been prepping for the release of the film including promotion materials and we are also nearly set for the next short film we want to shoot as well.
DIFFICULTIES
One big difficulty has been balancing our productions with our rebrand and promotional efforts! There is a lot to do and it is difficult as these things by themselves require a lot of time and thought… Luckily, it seems like we’ve been getting a lot closer to what we like for our website and our rebrand - it has been a slow process of chipping away and we’re finally about to see the fruits of our labor!
BTS
Here are some voice tests for the voice over for The Filial Brat! We’ve been trying to find the best way to get a lowered voice with the less amount of distortion. Ableton and Little Alterboy are the most distorted, but are probably just great for something more musical. Davinci sounds decent, though Adobe Audition sounds the most natural! From here, i’ve been using a small vocal chain to sweeten the audio in ableton. My vocal chain so far is pretty simple: a compressor, EQ to take out the sub frequencies and add clarity, the Decapitator plugin for saturation, a little bit of Microshift, the Ozone 10 dynamic EQ, and a little bit of Valhalla VintageVerb…

THINGS WE’RE LEARNING
Even though we don’t have any major investors just yet, we want to make sure that we have a strong foundation to catch big opportunities when they arise. That’s why it is super important for us in our budding stage to think about what it might look like when we have shareholders, a board of directors, and employees within the company and account for the many possibilities of what might happen within this. As a result, we are creating some more formal documents including bylaws to help ensure that we will have a productive and well planned career in making films!
GOALS
In this coming month, we want to finish most of The Filial Brat and start shooting the short film that will follow it!!
